HUNGARY: Easy season start for Pick Szeged

Pick Szeged played their first match of the 2013/14 league season on home ground against the Hungarian National Youth Team. Still suffering from failing to qualify to the CL against Metalurg, Pick players made far too many mistakes in attack. The youngsters kept the pace well until the 13th minute (5-4), but Pick’s lead was not in danger after that thanks to their tight defence and slowly improving attack (24th minute 11-5). The first half ended with a five-goal difference to the home team (13-8)
In the second half several saves by Tóth and some lovely wing goals from Garcia Parrondo quickly increased Pick’s lead to 9 goals (42th minute 19-10). The young players were getting more and more tired while Vranjes’s scoring performance improved dramatically. The biggest goal of the match also came from the Bosnian pivot, who scored from 25 meters while the opponent’s goalkeeper was drinking…
Although the end result suggests a very easy victory for Pick Szeged, they still have a lot of work to do especially to improve their attack.
