Italian Chieti hosts the 11th Mediterranean Championship

All set in Chieti, the venue of the 11th men’s edition of the Mediterranean Handball Championship, a very important handball event – reserved to Under 18 athletes – and organized from 10th to 15th  of February by the Mediterranean Handball Confederation, presided by Francesco Purromuto (FIGH President) that joins Handball Federations of Countries overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

For the first time the Men’s Mediterranean Handball Championship lays over Italy, under the FIGH organization (Italian Handball Federation) in Chieti, already seat past January of the match Italy- Slovakia for the World Cup 2015 qualification.

In the city of Chieti at Pala Santa Filomena eight National Teams from the Mediterranean basinwill confront each other. In addition to Italy, which  will arrive in Abruzzo on Saturday, the following  Countries will attend the 11th Mediterranean Handball Championship: Cyprus, Egypt,France, Libya, Montenegro, Tunisia,Turkey.

In Chieti there will be a real full immersion of handball. Matches begin on Monday 10th of February at 11.30 (Cyprus – Turkey), they will stop at 18.15, opening ceremony start time. At 19.15 is scheduled Italy’s debut against Libya.

Matches are scheduled from 8.30 to 20.30 of 11th and 13th of February; there will be matches during the afternoon of 12th and during the morning of 14th of February, as in a typical Italian round.

On Saturday 15th of February there will be final matches for 7th and 8th place (09.00), for 5th and 6th place (10.30), for 3rd and 4th place (15.30) and for 1st and 2nd place (17.00); at 19.00there will be the closing ceremony.

Therefore, Chieti is getting ready to become the center of the Mediterranean Handball for a whole week. Is going to start the countdown: the appointment is at Pala Santa Filomena.
