Kielce smash Wisla at the end!

In the last CL group phase match, Vive Targi Kielce won at home a convincing victory over Orlen Wisła Płock 38:30. The result of this game could not change anything in Group B table but battles between Kielce and Płock always evoke emotions. Kielce took the better start and scored 3 first goals. Wisła had their chances but Kielce were backed by brilliant saves of Sławomir Szmal, who also saved Ghionea’s penalty throw.

After 9 minutes the score was 6:2 and Vive was not going to stop pushing ahead. Guests tried to change the situation by placing Wichary in their goal instead of Šego, but it did not make any difference. Kielce’s good defence, with which Płock could not cope, was a source of numerous fastbreaks. Hosts kept gaining the advantage, also thanks to great Karol Bielecki, and at the break they led by 8 goals (20:12).

Second half also began well for Kielce; after 6 minutes they made the result 24:14, but Wisła was not going to give up and managed to reduce the gap a little. It is also worth mentioning that in the second half, referees were quite generous in giving away 2-minute suspensions; even Płock coach Manolo Cadenas got one. Last moments of the match were worse moments for Kielce as they had problems both in offence and defence, but eventually they woke up – started hitting the net again and it was Musa who sealed the deal and scored for 38:30 in the last seconds.

Best scorer of the Kielce was Denis Buntić by 7 goals; best scorer of the Płock was Petar Nenadić by 9. In the end Kielce ends up placed third and Płock fourth in the group.
