Statements
Ricardo Trillini (Olympiacos coach):
“I feel very good; it was truly a great and exciting match. Congratulations to AEK, because they came back into the game. In the second half, we made the difference, but in two naïve moments toward the end, the match became more complicated. Thanks to Diogo (Valério) and all the guys for their effort! It’s our first trophy of the season, and I hope it won’t be the last.”
Rui Silva (AEK coach):
“It was a tough match. We didn’t deserve to lose; it was decided by details. We must keep working because the next two trophies will come to AEK. It was my first match with AEK and in Greece. Olympiacos surprised us once, but it will be difficult for them to do it a second time. My team is better, and now we’re starting fresh.”
Petros Kandyllas (Olympiacos captain):
“An exciting and very competitive game throughout. The level might not have been what was expected, since, as we said before the match, both teams are still in preparation. I’m sure that during the season we’ll see much better handball. That being said, it’s still a trophy we won, and we really wanted it—mainly for our confidence.”
