The handball tournament at Pan American Games in Toronto began with the four women’s matches in which favorites celebrated the opening wins. The reigning world champions from Brazil beat Puerto Rico 38:21 , Argentina beat Uruguay 20:15, while Mexico outplayed host team – Canada 25:22.
In the last match of the Day 1, Cuba beat Chile 28:25.
The men’s tournament begins on Friday.
