Portuguese squad for EHF EURO 2024 announced
Portuguese national team coach Paulo Pereira has announced squad for the start of the Men’s EHF EURO 2024 in Germany. Portugal traveled to Germany with 18 players, however, without injured Victor Iturriza, Fábio Magalhães and André Gomes.
This will be the third EURO event on which Paulo Pereira’s men are participating – after sixth place in 2020 and 19th in 2022.
In group in Munich they will meet Greece, Czech Republic and Denmark.
“So we have these days now to get it right and to correct these little details. Overall, I think it was impeccable for us, that is, even with some constraints we managed to be competitive against Germany at home, in both games and that for me is a positive sign and I was very pleased with our team’s participation in these two games. [From weak to strong?] Theoretically it is like that but, at this moment, we are not thinking about the three games, we are only thinking about the first one. We have been preparing the three games, but the first two with more attention, however, at this moment, we are not going to talk about any other team other than Greece, because they also come with a lot of desire to surprise, to do things and It is also a very strong emotion for them to be here and sometimes we can think that it is easy but we can be surprised and we have learned from it.”, said Pereira.
