RK Zagreb and Coach Velimir Petković Part Ways by Mutual Agreement

RK Zagreb and coach Velimir Petković have mutually agreed to terminate their contract, announced the Croatian club.

After the match of the 10th round of the Paket24 Premier League of the Croatian Handball Championship, in which Zagreb and Nexe drew, coach Petković and the club’s management agreed that it would be in both parties’ best interest to conclude their collaboration by mutual consent.

Božidar Jović, the general manager of the Handball Club Zagreb, stated:

“I would like to thank coach Petković for everything he has done for our club during this period. He lifted the team upon his arrival, and under him, we achieved some great results in the Champions League. Unfortunately, after we concluded our European season, the situation changed, and the team no longer played at a satisfactory level. We sensed some dissatisfaction among many players, both those who mostly didn’t play and those who were used in rotation. Coach Petković gave all of his vast experience and knowledge in an attempt to lift the team, but unfortunately, this has not happened so far. Before the final stages of the Cup and the Croatian Championship, after discussions with Mr. Petković, we concluded that it would be best for the club at this moment to part ways by mutual agreement. I would like to thank coach Velimir Petković for the time he spent with us, for all of his vast knowledge and positive energy that he shared with our club. Thank you, Petko!” said the club’s statement.
