Sergey Pogorelov dies at age 45

Legendary Russian handball player, Sergey Pogorelov passed away at age 45, according “fastcenter”. He was found by his mother after he didn’t response on phone calls.

Pogorelov was one of the biggest stars of Russian handball in the last century of “east-european” handball power – 90’s. Powerful left back won European (1996), World (1997) and Olympic gold medal (2000) with the national team.

He was voted in all-star team of the Men’s EHF EURO 1998 in Italy.

Begining with handball in born-city of Volgograd, Pogorelov won numerous trophies in his club’s career which ended in 2008.
