THW Kiel to miss EHF Champions League after 15 years!

The most successful team in the modern history of German handball – THW Kiel are going to miss playing at VELUX EHF Champions League after 15 years!

One of the most popular teams in world of handball with strong fan base of more than 10.000 at Sparkassen Arena on every match, ended fifth at DKB Bundesliga after poor season in which Alfred Gislason lost his concept and stayed without title for the third year in a row.

The new champions SG Flensburg Handewitt and Rhein Neckar Lowen will play at European elite competition, while Fuchse Berlin waiting for “wild-card” after good results in EHF Cup, even EHF isn’t motivated to support German teams participation in EHF CL after problem with schedule in March for matches of RNL.

In this situation it looks almost impossible that “Zebras” get invitation for elite competition. They missed EHF CL for the last time in season 2003/2004, when Kiel won EHF Cup against Spanish Altea.
