Viggó Kristjánsson to join Flensburg in 2027
SG Flensburg-Handewitt have secured the signing of Icelandic international Viggó Kristjánsson. The left-handed right back will join the German club for the 2027/28 season, strengthening Flensburg’s back-court options on the right side.
Kristjánsson brings several years of Handball-Bundesliga experience and has established himself as a reliable option in the right back position. The left-hander is known for his one-on-one ability, versatile shooting range, and solid finishing efficiency.
SG managing director Holger Glandorf said: “Over several years in the Bundesliga, Viggó has proven that he is among the most effective players in his position. His finishing quality and experience will benefit our game a lot. With Viggó, we are gaining a player who combines experience, game intelligence and efficiency.”
Head coach Aleš Pajović added: “Viggó is a very complete back-court player. He makes good decisions, is dangerous in one-on-one situations, and has a very strong shooting percentage. On top of that, he knows the Bundesliga extremely well.”
