Women’s Junior (U20) WCh groups drawn in Croatia

Conducted by Leon Kalin, Chairman of the Commission of Organizing and Competition (COC) of the International Handball Federation, and Sandi Sola, representing the Croatian Handball Federation, the Preliminary Round groups for the Women’s Junior (U20) World Championship in Croatia (28 June to 13 July) were drawn on Sunday (27 April) in Koprivnica, one of the four hosting cities of the World Championship.
Host Croatia will face Norway, Korea, Czech Republic, Uruguay and Kazakhstan in group A in Dugo Selo. Defending Women’s Under-18 World Champion Denmark will play against Netherlands, Germany, Angola, Serbia and Argentina in Group B.
The result of the draw event:
Group A: Norway, Korea, Croatia, Czech Republic, Uruguay, Kazakhstan
Group B: Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Angola, Serbia, Argentina
Group C: Hungary, France, Sweden, Japan, DR Congo, Portugal
Group D: Russia, Romania, Slovenia, Brasil, China, Tunisia
Those teams, which finish the Preliminary Round (28 June to 5 July) groups on fifth and sixth position, will proceed to the President’s Cup in Čakovec from 7 to 9 July. The Eighth-Finals with the best four teams of each group will take place in Koprivnica and Dugo Selo on 7 July. In this stage the winner of group A will face the fourth ranked of group B, and the second ranked of group C will compete with the third ranked of group D for example. This stage is followed by the Quarter-Finals in Koprivnica (9 July) and the Placement Round 9-16 in Dugo Selo (9, 10 and 12 July). The losers of the Quarter-Finals compete in the Placement Round 5-8 (11 and 13 July) in Koprivnica, while the semi-finalists face on 11 July in Koprivnica, where the medal matches will take place on 13 July.
