Zorman about SLO experience: We didn’t want to repeat mistake from Rio

Slovenia was quite convincingly defeated by Germany 29:36 in the fight for first place in the group at the Olympic tournament in Paris before the trip to Lille. Eight years earlier in RI0, the Slovenians, led by Veselin Vujović, wiped out everything in front of them until the quarterfinals, where they ran into the eventual winners of the tournament, the Danes, and thus finished the tournament in sixth place.

Uros Zorman did not repeat that mistake, considering that the victory led Slovenia directly to the match against the French, who will play in front of 28,000 of their fans.

Slovenia will face Norway in the semi-finals.

“We didn’t want to repeat the mistake from Rio, when we ran into Denmark in the quarterfinals and really only had a one percent chance of success. This year we said we would be smarter and wiser. This drop in the game only occurred in the second fifteen minutes of the first half, when we went from +2 to -9, we allowed ourselves to lose too much concentration. But we already knew well before the match what this match would bring. In the end, there will certainly be some criticism, but we know why we are here, why we work. We decided on this and we decided together. We have nothing to complain about the boys, the second half was very good, it’s a shame that we repeat the same things from game to game. We also used the opportunity to fix some injury problems more easily, now we have two more days to use for rehabilitation” said Zorman.
