BACK TO BUNDESLIGA: Nikolaj Jakobsen is new Rhein Neckar Lowen head-coach!

Rhein Neckar Lowen announced later today that new coach from the beginning of the season 2014/2015 will be Nikolaj Jakobsen. A 41 years old Danish coach is coming from the bench of the Danish champions Aalborg, team who played succesfully at the VELUX EHF Champions League this season and almost is qualified for the TOP 16. Jakobsen has his own history in German handball, but as a left wing of THW Kiel in time of one of the most powerful generation with Wislander, Olsson, Perunicic, Lovgren…

He began his coaching career as assistant in Viborg HK (2004-2007) and Bjerringbro-Silkeborg (2007-2011) with the biggest success winning Danish Championship 2013 as the head-coach of Aalborg:

– In that time I wanted to prove myself as a player and compete with the best in the world. Now I want to prove myself in the strongest league in the world as a coach. And I’ve been waiting for the right offer from a good team with which I achieve something. I have this chance now with Rhein-Neckar Löwen – says Jacobsen, who signed contract until 2016.

He will replace Icelandic coach Gudmundur Gudmundsson, who will take over Danish national team in June 2014.
