Telekom Veszprem beat Meshkov Brest in thriller

The reigning SEHA GAZPROM league winners Telekom Veszprem got back on the winning track with a triumph over Meshkov Brest 31:30 (17:16). Despite the fact that a lot of Belarussian players had significant role in important win over Serbia just 48 hours before, Sergey Bebeshko team played very well at Veszprem Arena chasing the EHF Champions League runners-up until the last second of the match. The winner was decided by two technical mistakes of Meshkov’s back players Iman Jamali and Pavel Atman in the last two attack of the match. At the end, Hungarian team had only two save the ball in the last 20 seconds.

Both teams were eager to win derby match of regional competition. Belarussians had 10:7 and 12:9 in the first half, then 25:24 only 12 minutes before the final whistle, led by outstanding performance of line-player Rastko Stojkovic who netted nine goals in total.

Teams have played goal by goal until the very end of the match, but in the crucial moments responsibility was taken from the most experienced guys in red t-shirts, Dragan Gajic (9 goals) and Laszlo Nagy, who netted eight.

Veszprem past Meshkov on the league table. Team of Xavi Sabate is now third behind RK Vardar and PPD Zagreb.

Tatran beat RK Gorenje 34:30, while RK Metalurg easily past Izvidjac Ljubuski 36:22.
