Nora Mørk may miss the Handball World Championship.

One of the greatest names of women’s handball, Norwegian superstar Nora Mork could miss the upcoming Women’s World Championship 2025. The comeback star fails to get a passport for her daughter.

After winning Olympic gold in Paris 2024, the 34-years old right back paused her national team career. In May 2025, she had a child with her Swedish boyfriend and fellow handball player Jerry Tollbring.

Now Mørk has returned to the Norwegian national team and is aiming to play at the World Championship in Germany and the Netherlands, which begins at the end of November. However, her participation is in doubt.

“The problem is that they want an original birth certificate. The father is Swedish, I am Norwegian, and she was born in Denmark. You can’t get an original birth certificate without her being baptized,” Mørk told VG.

When asked if this could mean missing the championship, Mørk said:

“Yes, it can. I’m not going away for three weeks without a six-month-old girl. That’s too long for me. If it comes to the question of me playing in the World Cup, that’s what decides.”

Norwegian head coach Ole Gustav Gjekstad hopes the authorities will step in:

“There is only one thing to do here — for the Norwegian authorities to arrange a passport for the child quickly.”

Mørk currently plays for Team Esbjerg in Denmark.
