Kolstad IL “to cut” wages of TOP players?

The biggest Norwegian handball project continues to disappoint day after day. The weakest defense in a decade of the EHF Champions League could become even more porous. The reason: finances. Kolstad has announced new salary cuts.

Kolstad is facing another round of savings, and according to Norway’s TV 2, the players have been informed that the club is working on a financial adjustment that will particularly affect the highest-paid profiles. Among those who could be impacted are Sigvaldi Gudjonsson, Gøran Johannessen, Magnus Gullerud, Simen Lyse, and Andreas Palicka.

The Norwegian club confirms that a new strategy is in preparation, and CEO Jostein Sivertsen emphasizes that Kolstad must be “competitive, but also financially sustainable” going forward.

For now, Kolstad does not want to comment on specific salary reductions.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that the Norwegian champions will play their EHF Champions League matches in a smaller arena due to lower costs.
