Juan Carlos Pastor takes over as head coach from January

TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and head coach Christian Prokop have parted ways with immediate effect. Following a comprehensive sporting review, the head coach has been relieved of his duties. The decision is the result of an in-depth assessment of the team’s sporting development and is intended to pave the way for a structured restart.
“We believed in the existing set-up right up until the end. However, based on the situation and our impressions around the turn of the year, we have come to the conclusion that sticking with the current arrangement would not lead to a good outcome,” explains Sporting Director Sven-Sören Christophersen, looking ahead to the second half of the season. “We have always emphasized that we wanted to reach a clean conclusion that also does justice to the years and successes we have shared with Christian. We have now reached that point — also to enable a structured transition during the winter break.”
Christian Prokop had been on the RECKEN bench since 2021. During that time, the Lower Saxony Bundesliga club achieved upper-table finishes in three consecutive seasons and qualified twice for the EHF European League. “Decisions like this never feel good, but in sport they are sometimes unavoidable — which does not change the appreciation we have for Christian and the work he has done. We thank him for the cooperation and wish him all the best in his professional and private future,” says RECKEN Managing Director Eike Korsen.
With immediate effect, Juan Carlos Pastor will take over as head coach, bringing forward the change that had already been set for the summer.
