Huge shock for France ahead of EHF EURO 2026: Nedim Remili ruled out with injury
A major blow has hit the French national team just before travelling to the EHF EURO 2026. Nedim Remili, the MVP of the last title-winning EHF EURO 2024 in Germany, has been forced off the squad due to injury.
An acute injury to his left leg means “Les Bleus” will have to defend their crown in Oslo and Herning without one of their key men.
“During the rehabilitation process following an injury to his left thigh, Nedim complained of pain in the calf of the same leg, which required an urgent check-up. Unfortunately, the examination revealed an acute injury that rules him out of the EURO,” explained Emmanuel Bide, the doctor of the French national team.
“Losing Nedim, given his experience and importance to our game, is far from insignificant. Now we have to reorganize with a group of eighteen players,” said head coach Guillaume Gille, who has responded by adding Aymeric Zaepfel (PAUC Aix-en-Provence) to the 18-man squad in Oslo.
Remili also sent a message to his teammates:
“Guys, we worked hard to be in the best possible shape. I wish you the best of luck for the big event ahead. I’ll be following you from afar and I wish you lots of success and joy as you move toward your goal. And to the newcomers: enjoy your first appearance! Stick together and fight!”
France will open their tournament in Oslo.
