Ferlin out: Uroš Zorman names Slovenia squad for EHF EURO 2026

Slovenia head coach Uroš Zorman has announced the squad for EHF EURO 2026, where the fourth-placed team from the last Olympic Games will open their campaign in Oslo against Montenegro. The latest player to drop out is experienced goalkeeper Klemen Ferlin, who has not recovered from injury.
“Everyone who is available has the quality to make up for the absentees. We need to look ahead positively and keep the right energy. Of course, some key players are injured, and we will try to compensate with a mobile defence and quick transitions into attack. Our recipe is: youth, speed and positive madness,” Zorman told the media ahead of the trip to Scandinavia.
Unlike recent years, Slovenia will play this European Championship with a significantly weakened roster due to injuries and overload. Even before preparations it was clear that Blaž Blagotinšek, Miha Zarabec, Nejc Cehte, Matic Grošelj, Tadej Kljun, Mitja Janc and Jaka Malus would be missing, while two more key players were injured during the build-up — Aleks Vlah (hamstring) and Ferlin. Borut Mačkovšek has joined the team in place of Vlah, despite previously agreeing with the coach to skip this year’s tournament, but to step in if necessary.
