Pereira on Pride: “Second Half Was More Portugal”

Portugal suffered historical defeat against France 38:46 in the second match of the EHF EURO 2026 Main Round. Final result could hide disasterous first half in which Portuguese team received 29 goals, more than any team in the history of European championships.
- We talked about solutions, tactical solutions, but specially about proud. We had several mistakes in a row that put us in situation that we don’t belive in ourselves anymore. We talked about proud and I think second half was more Portugal. So let’s continue, we have two more games to do our best and I hope we can do it – said Portuguese coach Paulo Pereira.
Portugal have two points two matches before the end of the Main Round with only theoretical chances to qualify for the semi-final. This was the second defeat in a row after three wins at Preliminary Round, the last one against Denmark.
