Armel Atingre to play for Montenegro

The goalkeeper of Budućnost Bemax Armel Atingre has obtained Montenegrin citizenship through admission, finalizing the necessary procedures with the International Handball Federation (IHF).

Armel Atingre is now officially representing Montenegro! A valuable addition to our national team, the Budućnosti Bemax goalkeeper earned the right to play after acquiring Montenegrin citizenship and completing required formalities with the IHF. Atingre is set to make his debut for Montenegro on Thursday during the match against Serbia in the European Championship qualifiers. His presence becomes crucial following Marta Batinović’s injury at the World Championship, which will require an extended recovery period.

Originally from Ivory Coast, Atingre, alongside Marina Rajčić, will form a formidable goalkeeping duo for the national team, enhancing their pursuit of qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris this year. Atingre expressed his joy in being embraced by Montenegro as a new team member, emphasizing the importance of trust and acceptance from his new teammates and coaching staff. He is eager to embark on this new chapter and believes in aligning his fighting spirit with that of the Montenegrin team.
