Morten Soubak has designated 19 athletes for a training phase that will take place in Spain between the 4th and 12th of October. Captain Fabiana Diniz and IHF World Player of the Year Eduarda Amorim will be back in the squad after recovering from their respective injuries.
The defending World champions, Brazil, will take part in a training phase together with the Euro 2014 bronze medalists in the Spanish island of Fuerteventura in the archipelago of the Canary Islands. “We have made an agreement with Sweden and we’ll share training sessions, just like we did with Norway earlier this year in Brazil. This will be a very good way to train and evaluate our players, as the Scandinavians are one of the best teams in the World”, explained Soubak in the Brazilian Confederation website.
The captain and pivot Fabiana ‘Dara’ Diniz will be back in the National team after having missed the last Pan American Games in Toronto due to a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) on her left leg. Hers will not be the only comeback as leftback Eduarda ‘Duda’ Amorim will also join the team after a long recovery from a torn ACL on her left knee.
Two ‘new’ faces will join the squad this time: Bruna Almeida de Paula and Tainara Luna Gonçalves. “Both of them were first called in August to participate on the training phase where only athletes who play in Brazil took part. They did really good and we’ve been following their performances in their clubs as well, so we’ll give them a new chance”, stressed Soubak. According to the Danish coach, this will be the last evaluation before the definitive list for the World Championship in December; the players on that list will take part of a Four Nations tournament in Brazil in late November, which will be the final test before they head off to Denmark.
