Just two rounds in the Main round were enough to show once again that there is no underdog in Beach Handball and that there is no match that deserved to be missed because of spending time in spectatore zone or in one of the stands with delicious Hungarian food. Croatia won two matches in Main round, Ukrania did the opposite and all other 4 teams in male competition won one of two matches. After such outcome, we know that Croatia, Brasil and Qatar already took 3 tickets for semifinals while forth will be booked by Spain or Hungary after last round matches that will be played on Saturday morning (10:50). For host team, it is enough to win against Qatar that is already in semifinals while Spain need victory in match against Ukraine and victory of Qatar in above mentioned match.
In female competition, semifinals will be played by Brasilians, Norway and Spain while forth place in semis will go to Hungary if they will win last match in Main round against Chinese Taipei. Options for semifinals has as well national team od Italy in case Chinese Taipei will be successfull and Italians will win against Norway.
Already are known 3 out of 4 semifinalists in both competition but there are still a lot of “combinations” about who will be fourth and which teams will play against each other in that important stage of Championship.
There is just one “unknown variable” – X factor of this Beach Handball World Championship starts being weather! Participants and organisers now all look to the sky and wait for latest weather forecast as rain that is forecasted for today and Sunday endenger to damage fantastic picture that is, so far, made by all Beach Handball teams and organisers of this amazing event.
