Legendary Romanian handball princess Cristina Neagu retired from the national team after World Championship 2023 in Scandinavia:
- What a fantastic trip! I always wanted to represent my country. And I had the chance to do this for 17 years..each time with pride, honor and responsibility. I played and created beautiful memories with sensational players and lived every moment to the fullest. I would like to thank all the colleagues and coaches I have had over the years at the national team. Thanks to the fans who have always been with me and the team. It was a great honor to captain the team. I always entered the field with ambition, fighting spirit, I laughed, I cried, with sadness, with joy and I gave my best every time. I am proud of everything I have achieved and especially grateful for all the emotions and feelings experienced under the tricolor!
