City of Split, where Ivano Balic, Petar Metlicic and other fantastic athletes, not only from handball sport, began their careers, will get some new TOP handball events as the International Youth Handball Tournament in the last days of 2013, but also Beach Handball Tournament in June 2014. One of organizers, Mario Caljkusic, who also established famous International Handball Goalkeepers Camp in Makarska, expects a lot of handball joy in the beautiful city on the Adriatic coast:
– About goalkeepers’ camp we already said enough. It will be extremely difficult to goes level up with that project, because we already made almost perfect event for the goalies. Names of Omeyer, Hvidt, Alilovic, Basic and others prove that. We would like to prolong Camp, to have 15 days event and that will be our goal in the next period– says Caljkusic and presents International Youth Handball Tournament in perod of December 27-29 2013.
– Split is the city of rich handball tradition, 60-70 years old. We didn’t have any serious project on the international level for kids. This city deserves something more. We have all necessary conditions to organize strong tournament on international level.
Tournament will be organized in both categories – male and female for the generation 1996 till 2003…
– Our wish it so make one of the biggest tournament in Europe. Expectations going up to 2200 participants for the first year. We already booked 1500 places in Split and neighborhood. We have great potential, people will have opportunity to enjoy in city of Split, who is 1700 years old! We want also to make something positive for our local handball community. We found that dates in December are attractive. All the participants will have enough time to went back to home before New Year’s eve.
STRONG BEACH HANDBALL TOURNAMENT IN SPLIT IN JUNE 2014
– We have big plans. We already made a team for that project in which taking part some of the people from world’s handball scene. Split is touristic center during summer, but without any sport’s programme. Our wish is to have a few thousands beach handball participants, many teams from many countries. The event will take place on city beach – Znjan. We are trying to build courts there and that is our next step – concludes Caljkusic.
