In openning match of EHF Champions League 2010/2011, HC Sankt Petersburg celebrated historical, first win ever in European competions over Bosna Sarajevo 32:27 (11:12). In a close duel of two Olympic champions on the benches, Dmitry Torgovanov and Irfan Smajlagic, in the latest stage of the game a winner decided a higher number of technical errors on BiH national champion side. Man of the Match was right wing of winning team, Alexey Shindin (9/9).
