EHF decision about Fivers-Benidorm match – Spaniards will appeal against

The European Handball Federation has decided to put out BM Benidorm from the Men’s EHF European League 2020/2021 as team wasn’t able to travel to Austria on the second match against Fivers. The Spanish team won first match 34:31.

Here is official PRESS release of the Spaniards.

“The EHF has informed the Club Balonmano Benidorm that they consider us not presented and consequently eliminated from the EHF European League. In this way, the Fivers Handball of Austria would be classified in spite of the defeat in the first leg.
We deeply regret this decision, which we will appeal with an appeal through the Royal Spanish Handball Federation.
In exceptional situations, exceptional averages are required, but so far this has not been the case. Club Balonmano Benidorm will continue to try what it has achieved in its own right and in sports until the last second. Finally, we would like to thank the many and unanimous signs of support and solidarity.”
