EHF EURO 2026: Denmark win CLASH of the TITANS

Denmark kept their EHF EURO 2026 semi-final hopes alive with a 32:29 (11:12) victory over France. After a hard-fought battle in Herning that had all the feel of a medal showdown, Nikolaj Jacobsen’s side secured a crucial win, partially restoring their chances of reaching the final weekend after the defeat to Portugal at the end of the preliminary round.
The decisive edge came from Mathias Gidsel, who struck twice in the final five minutes, as France’s left back Thibaud Briet was repeatedly unable to cope in one-on-one situations with the world’s best player. Gidsel finished with nine goals, Simon Pytlick added eight, and Emil Jakobsen scored six. For France, only Aymeric Minne performed at the level needed to truly threaten the reigning champions, with the outstanding centre back netting seven times.
