Every Team Wins with the Charity Programme of MVM EHF FINAL4

Entries, the one more ingenious than the other, have been received on the invitation of the charity programme called ‘Be the Fifth Team at the MVM EHF FINAL4’ launched by MVM Hungarian Electricity Ltd. and the European and Hungarian Handball Federation on the occasion of the MVM EHF FINAL4. Twenty U13 girls handball teams in total have sent their entries from almost all over the country, in which they have presented their enthusiasm for and commitment to handball sport.

MVM and the European and Hungarian Handball Federation launched the charity programme called ‘Be the Fifth Team at the MVM EHF FINAL4’ on 2 April 2015 in order to provide lifelong experience to a U13 girls handball team by enabling its players to take part in the MVM EHF FINAL4, thereby increasing the children’s love and calling for sports.

Twenty teams in total (Balmazújváros, Doboz, Dorog, Gödöllő, Gyöngyös, Hajós, Hatvan, Heves, Hort, Kecskemét, Kisvárda, KSI, Mohács, Mosonszolnok, MVSC, Nádudvar, Nagyatád, Postás, Salgótarján and Tompa) submitted their entries, including videos or photos and handicraft items. The jury, comprising Anita Görbicz, Katalin Pálinger and the representatives of MVM and the Hungarian Handball Federation, finally decided that the team of Nádudvar DSE should win the main prize, who may participate in the MVM EHF FINAL4 with full room and board, and will also receive a full set of adidas sportswear and subscription for Képes Sport (Picture Sports).

‘We received so many interesting and valuable entries that we decided to provide an opportunity for all team members participating in the programme to see the best players play live at the top event of women’s handball this year. We are especially glad that the main prize went to a team that, despite its limited funding, submitted the most creative and, at the same time, moving entry,ʼ announced Csilla Nagy, Acting Director of Communications of MVM.

At the prize giving ceremony held at the home of Nádudvar DSE, Katalin Pálinger, Vice President of the Hungarian Handball Federation, European champion, World Championship and Olympic silver medallist, who played in more than 250 matches on the national handball team, handed over the gifts. ‘Although decision-making was not easy, the enthusiasm and invested work of the Nádudvar girls still stood out among the entries,ʼ said Katalin Pálinger. ‘It was moving to see the lots of handicraft gifts that they made. We could also make sure at the prize giving ceremony that the main prize went to the right place, since we visited the home of a real, small, solidary team, who live and die for handball—we hope, with even greater enthusiasm and perseverance from now on. The general public can also see the excellent entries, since all entries (videos, photos and presentations) will be shown in an exhibition at the MVM EHF FINAL4 at the weekend,’ added the new Vice President of the Hungarian Handball Federation.

The coach of Nádudvar DSE, Dóra Kiss, has confirmed: ‘This prize means a lot to us. On the one hand, because the girls get lifelong experience and new sportswear, which we unfortunately could not provide to them relying on our own resources, as the funds of our club are very limited. On the other hand, the competition was also excellent for team building, as the girls were making the clay medals, handcrafted soaps and a handmade book with great enthusiasm. We worked again together on something, which brought success to us. This is also the way team sport works.’

MVM Hungarian Electricity Ltd. has been the priority main sponsor of the Audi ETO Women’s Handball Club of Győr and the name-giving sponsor of the MKB-MVM Veszprém Men’s Handball Club since the autumn of 2013 as well as is also the name-giving sponsor of the MVM EHF FINAL4 for the second time, whereby it is one of the most important sponsors of this branch of sport in Hungary.
