From Barça Hope to Early Retirement: Jaime Gallego’s Struggle

Jaime Gallego, who left FC Barcelona in summer 2025, has announced his retirement at just 23 after a long ankle battle.
He explained on Instagram:
“The joint was severely damaged by the entire process… making rehabilitation difficult and making it impossible for me to lead a normal life. Since my contract with Barça expired, I’ve been trying to recover so I can walk pain-free and enjoy long excursions outside of my home.”
His career ended prematurely after repeated ankle swelling, arthritis, and finally a bacterial infection that required surgery and antibiotics.
