From Schaffhausen to Ohrid: Pilipović joins Ohrid’s European project

The North-Macedonian project GRK Ohrid continues to strengthen its squad early in the era of Serbian coach Boris Rojević.

The search for an experienced goalkeeper with international background has been completed. The choice fell on occasional Croatian national team member Kristijan Pilipović, who brings extensive experience from both the EHF Champions League and EHF European League, finds out Balkan-Handball.com

The 30-year-old goalkeeper began his career with Fivers in Austria, and after a spell with Nexe Našice, he fully established himself in Kadetten Schaffhausen from 2018, winning several Swiss league titles and competing regularly in European competitions.

Pilipović spent the 2022/2023 season with Orlen Wisła Płock, and now leaves Schaffhausen in the first part of the current season to join Ohrid, making himself available to coach Rojević immediately after the October EHF week.

He debuted for Croatia at the EHF EURO 2022, after previously representing Austria at the 2019 World Championship before switching national teams.

So far this season, Ohrid has relied on a domestic trio of goalkeepers — Blažeski, Đorđeski, and Čanevski.

In the recent weeks, Macedonian team signed playmaker Mladen Krsmancic and right back Tomislav Jagurinovski.

The Macedonian side, competing in the EHF European Cup, easily overcame their first obstacle against Baku from Azerbaijan.
