Hungarian NT line-player Szabolcs Zubai retires

One of the best Hungarian line-players of the decade, Szabolcs Zubai, has decided to finish professional handball career.

The 36-years old line-player ended season with Hungarian Oroshaza, where he came in 2018 after winning the domestic Championship with MOL Pick Szeged.

Zubai has played in Szeged for 10 years between 2008 and 2018. He began career at Dunaffer (2004-2008).

Zubai also won EHF Cup with MOL Pick Szeged while with the national team the biggest success was fourth place at Olympic Games 2012 in London.

“I got injured in Gyöngyös at the beginning of February, but after that the team got into the ascending branch, played good matches, the results came, so it seems that all the brakes had to be taken out of the band. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus epidemic, my career ends this way, as do many other excellent players” said Zubai, 36, whose contract expires in Orosháza this year.

Zubai had 211 appearances for national team and scores 308 goals.
