Hungary: Confident Cup victory for Pick Szeged

The first official appearance in 2013 for Hungarian League leaders Pick Szeged took place on Wednesday evening. It was a Hungarian Cup first leg match against Gyöngyös. Before the match, new signing Montenegrin international right wing Marko Lasica was introduced to the spectators.
The starting Pick Szeged goal of 2013 came from young right-back talent Gábor Ancsin. The first few goals were scored evenly, but after the 8th minute Pick increased the pace and the goal difference began to grow (17th minute 10-4). The 6-goal margin remained until the end of the first half (30th min 15-9).
For the second half Pick’s defence became tighter with hungarian international Péter Tatai producing many great saves. The guest team were only able to score two goals in ten minutes while Frantisek Sulc and croatian pivot Antonio Pribanic kept on scoring for Pick. In the end Szeged won the match comfortably by 32-18 with best scorers Sulc, Pribanic 6-6, Ancsin 4, Larholm 3. Best scorer for Gyöngyös was former Pick left-back Péter Szabó with 7 goals.
The second leg of this quarterfinal  will be played in Gyöngyös on 19 February, but after today’s result Pick’s place in the Hungarian Cup Final4 seems secure.
