HUNGARY: Pick Szeged victorious in Budapest

In round 7 of the Hungarian League Pick Szeged travelled to Budapest to meet Pestszentlőrinc. The young home team is fighting to avoid relegation so victory was compulsory for Pick where, apart from Marko Lasica (still out of squad due to injury) every player was avalable for coach Pastor.

The match started well for Pick as they quickly managed to gain a substantial lead: Tatai made some great saves and his team mates were also effective from counterattacks.

Substitute players also scored, Vadkerti and young right wing Gidai were very confident. After Larholm’s goal in the 27th minute the difference grew to 10 goals much to the delight of the many Pick supporters present.  The only question remaining in the second half was the goal difference. Pick finally won the match by 11 goals. Their 37 goals was the highest this season and it provides a good basis for Saturday’s big match at home against fellow EHF Cup contender Csurgó.

PLER-Pick Szeged 26-37 (10-19)

Best scorers: Bakos (6) / Balogh (7), Kekezovic (6), Parrondo (5)

Text: Gábor Várkonyi, Péter Butty
