Ian Barrufet to stay at Barca until 2029

One of the biggest talents in Spanish handball, national team left wing Ian Barrufet (21), has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until the summer of 2029.
The son of legendary goalkeeper David Barrufet, a former long-time club director, Barufet returned from his loan spell at MT Melsungen and has become an important part of head coach Antonio Carlos Ortega’s rotation.
“This is a dream that continues. My father is a legend, but I want to build my own path here,” he said at the signing.
An atypical profile for a left wing at 198 cm, Barufet also featured for Spain at the EHF EURO 2026 in Herning.
