Jesper Jensen to leave Danish NT bench

Jesper Jensen will leave bench of the Danish women’s national team next summer despite valid contract until

“We are very disappointed that Jesper Jensen no longer wants to be the national coach. We were looking forward to his continued leadership, where his full-time job would give him the peace and quiet to develop the team further. But we also respect that after five years he has to try something different,” commented Morten Henriksen, sports director of Dansk Haandbold, in an association statement.

“In my almost five years as national coach, I was very satisfied with my work and I still am. But I also have to admit that I miss handball in everyday life. I miss the daily development and sparring with the players, and I miss standing on the floor in the hall and watching the players move. That’s why I have decided to stop being national coach,” said Jesper Jensen, explaining his decision to resign.

Denmark played six semi-finals with Jensen on helm, two finals, but without winning gold medal.
