Jim Gottfridsson is going back home!

One of the greatest Swedish handball players of all time, Jim Gottfridsson (34), has officially returned to his boyhood club IFK Ystad. The experienced centre back has signed a three-year contract with the club where he took his first steps in handball.
Despite receiving offers from top clubs in Sweden, Denmark and Germany, Gottfridsson decided to continue his career in his hometown.
“This is the club where everything started. I am not coming back to finish my career, but with big ambitions. I want us to win, to bring IFK Ystad back to where the club belongs and to help the young players with my experience,” Gottfridsson said.
The club did not hide its pride over the return of the world-class handball star, describing his arrival as a major boost both on and off the court, for the first team as well as the youth academy.
The former EHF EURO MVP and EHF Champions League winner with Flensburg endured a turbulent spell at Pick Szeged, where his contract was terminated after only six months. The two parties eventually reached an agreement on an early separation.
