Jonathan Würtz absence due to illness
Jonathan Würtz has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of cancer in the lymph nodes, for which the Skjern profile needs chemotherapy.
– It is of course a big shock, and a lot of thoughts are flying through the head. This was not the way I wanted to end my last season in Skjern, but right now there is something else that is more important. I have had absolutely fantastic backing and support from my teammates and the club, and that means everything at this time, says Jonathan Würtz.
– I am in good spirits, and am optimistic about the process that lies ahead. I am young and in good shape, and therefore I feel that the cards are on my side – also compared to the forecasts I have been told by the doctors. In the coming time, more studies will show which stage I am in and when the chemotherapy will start.
Director of Skjern Handball, Carsten Thygesen, states:
– Everyone at the club will do everything possible to support Jonathan and his family through his treatment. Handball quickly becomes secondary, and now Jonathan – more than ever before – must feel that the club and the squad are behind him, says Carsten Thygesen.
