Sunday match in Sparkassen-Arena between THW Kiel and Vive Targi Kielce ended in a draw 28:28. Both teams began very fast, scoring a lot of goals (6 goals in 4. minute) which were a result of not the best defence. Even though Marko Vujin successfully made use of mistakes made by Kielce, Polish team took the lead and in 11. minute they had 3 goals more than Kiel. Vive, as well as Kiel, had their better and worse moments but they managed to keep the good result at half time. Beginning of the second half was similar to the beginning of the whole match. Both teams played fast but they also made mistakes in attack. Kiel started catching up with their opponent and they made the result 19:19 in 41. minute.
It seemed that the hosts wanted to take the upper hand finally, but guests were not going to let go even though their efficiency was poor – the ball ended up either in goalkeepers’ hands or missed the goal completely. Kielce pulled themselves together, Szmal saved a few shots and with 28:28 in the last minute it was still not sure who would take 2 points. Kiel had the ball and a chance to win but they lost it and then Kielce was closer to take points to Poland.
In the very last moment when Jachlewski was fouled, there was a chance to get a penalty throw, but the referees decided it was only a free throw. Kielce did not even care to try to score and therefore the teams shared points.
Top scorer for Kiel was Marko Vujin (10); for Kielce – MichaÅ‚ Jurecki (7).
