Mads Hoxer awaits surgery and a longer break
Mads Hoxer has suffered for a long period with a shoulder injury, where it is now clear that an operation is required to repair the injury.
A mischievous shoulder injury must now be repaired via surgery, which will keep the full-back out of action and training for at least five months.
– It is a regrettable situation, first of all for Mads, but also for the whole team, because it is of course a big loss. We have tried pretty much everything to avoid an operation, but have also had to admit that this season it has not been the version of Mads Hoxer we want to see that has been on the field, says Aalborg Handball director Jan Larsen.
– After a scan at Privathospitalet Capio, together with our healthcare staff, we have decided that the only real solution is for Mads to undergo an operation on the shoulder, which will take place later this week. After this, at least five months of rehabilitation await, so we hope and believe that Mads will be ready to contribute again when we are at the end of the men’s league, says Jan Larsen further.
Mads Hoxer himself sees the impending operation and break as a necessary evil that must be overcome.
– The shoulder has been teasing me since sometime in the spring and the injury has gradually gotten worse and worse, even though we have tried different treatments along the way. It is of course a big disappointment to look forward to a long injury break and rehabilitation, but in my current state I am nowhere near being able to play the way I want to.
– That’s why I’m also looking forward to having the operation over, so that I can start the rehabilitation and hopefully be ready for the decisive matches this season, which I’m sure my teammates will probably secure for us, says Mads Hoxer.
Mads Hoxer is currently listed for 115 games and 517 goals for Aalborg Handball.
