Misha Kaufmann and ThSV Eisenach part ways in summer 2025
ThSV Eisenach will go into to the next season with the new coach.
Misha Kaufmann and the biggest surprise of the of Daikin Bundesliga in the last season and a half agreed about the end of cooperation in summer 2025, two years before the existing contract.

ThSV Eisenach has agreed with its coach on an early termination of the contract on June 30, 2025. The termination was due to the coach’s decision to leave the Wartburg city after the current Bundesliga season. The views on the sporting structures of the professional team did not lead to a common consensus, which would have been the basic prerequisite for further long-term cooperation.
“Ultimately, I look back on the three and a half years in Eisenach with pride and gratitude,” said head coach Misha Kaufmann. “In particular, I look back on the countless positive moments that we were able to experience together and develop ThSV Eisenach. I want to enjoy the remaining six months and continue to ‘write’ our history together with the team, the fans and the club.”
Managing Director René Witte says of the early termination of the employment relationship: “We are complying with Misha Kaufmann’s decision based on his achievements over the past few years in order to honor his achievements. As head coach, he accompanied our first team to promotion to the Bundesliga in 2022/23 and to staying in the league last season. We wish him every success for his professional future from the summer onwards and will work together constructively for the success of the team and the club until then!”
After the unrest of the last few weeks, during which there was a lot of uncertainty in the public, the coach and management now see the top priority for the coming weeks and months as continuing to score the next victories for ThSV Eisenach professionally and under the best possible conditions, continuing the season as successfully as possible and achieving the goals set. Everyone involved is convinced that Misha Kaufmann will give everything to the end and in the interests of ThSV Eisenach for the greatest possible success.
The sporting director of the ThSV, Maik Nowak, said of the coach’s wish to leave: “We are very grateful to Misha Kaufmann for his sporting work over the past few years, which is why it was only logical for us to accept his explicit decision to leave ThSV Eisenach. After the successes he was able to celebrate with the team, first the promotion and later the relegation, it was clear to us that we would not put any obstacles in Misha’s way with regard to his future path. We wish him all the best for his future.” “Our sporting director Maik Nowak has been tasked with finding a coach and is leading the relevant discussions,” explains managing director René Witte. Nowak himself: “At the beginning of January, the search for a new head coach for the time after Misha Kaufmann will be a priority. We are already in intensive and constructive discussions, and in due course we will introduce the new head coach of ThSV Eisenach, who will take up the position from July 1st, 2025.” Nowak continued: “The period up to June 30th is a long one. We want to make it as successful as possible, together with Misha Kaufmann as head coach.”
