PARIS 2024: Egypt beat Hungary

Egypt celebrated the first victory at Men’s Olympic handball tournament in Paris.

Team coached by Juan Carlos Pastor beat Hungary 35:32 (19:15) at Round 1 to announce high ambitions three years after they played Tokyo 2021 semi-final.

It was impressive attacking performance by the best African national team in the first 18 minutes in which they scored 16 goals to lead +8 (16:8). Hungary have found the balance in defense in the last 10 minutes of the first half-time to endanger rivals (19:15).

On that wave, Hungarians came to 23:23 in the second half, but at the end, individual qualities of Egyptian back-line (Eldeera and Yahia) put them forward.

Yahia Omar and Ahmed Adel were TOP scorers in the winning team with nine goals each.

On the other side, new THW Kiel signing Imre Bence scored 7.
