Petar Cikuša’s Stellar Debut: A Rising Star in Spanish Handball

World-class. How else to describe Petar Cikusa‘s debut at the World Championships? The young talent of Serbian descent, born in 2005, played for Spain in their 39-20 victory over Japan and immediately delivered what is expected from a gem of his caliber – six goals and the title of the match’s best player.
The Barcelona center back will be playing in this Championship alongside his brother, Djordje, a right back for Montpellier. Đorđe contributed three goals in the triumph over Japan.
The Spanish team has secured two opening victories, but the real challenge awaits in the third round with a clash against Sweden. This match will provide much clearer insight into how far “La Furia” can go at the start of the new Olympic cycle leading up to Los Angeles 2028.
With the Cikuša brothers taking center stage, the future of Spanish handball is undoubtedly bright. They already won three gold medals at U18 and U20…
