Portugal Rallies to Claim Victory Over Brazil in Thrilling Match

Portugal celebrated the victory No.2 at World Handball Championship 2025. Portuguese young squad had a lot of troubles with motivated Brazilians 30:26 in the first half, but managed to come back until the end.
Brazil started strong with an impressive 4:0 run, forcing Portugal’s coach Paulo Pereira to call a timeout just six minutes in. His speech energized the team, and Rui Silva scored Portugal’s first goal after nearly eight minutes.
Brazil slowed the pace, allowing Portugal to close the gap by the 15th minute. Despite strong saves from Brazilian goalkeeper Rangel da Rosa, Brazil led 15:12 at halftime.
In the second half, Portugal adjusted to a more aggressive defense, steadily erasing Brazil’s lead. Antonio Areia tied the game at 22:22 in the final quarter, and Martim Costa soon gave Portugal their first lead. Costa’s dominant performance helped Portugal pull away, securing a 30:26 victory.
