The best handball team in Slovenia is RK Celje Pivovarna Laško. The EHF CL winner 2004 beat the EHF Cup F4 contender RK Gorenje Velenje with 3:0 in the Play-Off Final series. RK Celje PL’s coach Branko Tamše has won the fourth consecutive Championships on the bench, second time with team from Celje, as he did it twice before with team from Velenje.
