Roland Mikler Extends Contract with PICK Szeged Until 2027

“I would like to share some good news, much to the delight of many of our fans: we have reached an agreement with Roland Mikler on a contract extension, and his deal has been prolonged until June 30, 2027. Roli is an iconic figure in Szeged handball, and with his performances this season he has once again proven that he is a key member of the team, one of its greatest strengths, and an essential link,” said club president Edward Papp.
“Everyone knows what the club in Szeged means to me, and what it means for me to play for OTP Bank-PICK Szeged. It is a great joy for me and my family that I can continue my career here, stay on, and keep contributing to the team’s success. We love living here, and the twins will start school in the autumn, so I was very happy to sign my contract,” said Roland Mikler.
Roland Mikler was born on September 20, 1984, in Dunaújváros. He began his career at Dunaferr before joining Pick Szeged in 2010. He was part of the team that made history in 2014 by winning the EHF Cup in Berlin, securing the club’s first international trophy. He then moved to arch-rivals Veszprém before returning to Szeged in 2019.
With the club, he has won the Hungarian championship twice, the Hungarian Cup once, and the EHF Cup once. He made his debut for the national team in 2004 and has so far made 252 appearances for Hungary. He has also played at two Olympic Games and was a member of the team that finished fourth in London in 2012.
