HSG Wetzlar Sign Hungarian Goalkeeper Laszlo Bartucz Until 2028

Handball-Bundesliga side HSG Wetzlar have completed their first signing for the upcoming season, bringing in Hungarian international goalkeeper Laszlo Bartucz. The 34-year-old has signed a league-independent contract with the Central German club until June 30, 2028. Bartucz is currently under contract with Bundesliga rivals MT Melsungen.
“From my time at MT, I know Laszlo very well and value not only his sporting quality, but above all his character,” said HSG Wetzlar sporting managing director Michael Allendorf. “From the very beginning of our talks, he was fully committed to the task at HSG Wetzlar – regardless of which league we will be playing in next season. With him, we are also gaining a lot of experience and calmness in goal, which will be very important for us. I’m delighted that we were able to sign him.”
At the end of the season, both goalkeepers Anadin Suljakovic and Andreas Palicka will leave the club, as had already been known for some time.
Until last summer, Bartucz had played exclusively for top-flight clubs in his native Hungary. He especially made a name for himself on the international stage during his time at Tatabánya KC. The father of two spent nine years with the club from northern Hungary. Bartucz has also been part of the Hungarian national team setup since 2015 and featured at the 2025 World Championship as well as this year’s European Championship.
In July 2025, the experienced goalkeeper moved to MT Melsungen, and since then he has made 21 Bundesliga appearances.
“I am very happy to join a club with such a great handball tradition,” said Bartucz. “Many outstanding goalkeepers have worn this shirt in the past, and that impressed and inspired me. At the same time, I am attracted by the sporting perspective the club offers and by the chance to play a role in its future development. I am convinced that with hard work and the support of our fans, we can achieve success together.”
