One of the best players of Rhein-Neckar Loewen for the past season, Alexander Petersson, will have to undergo a surgery and will be out for some time, including the beginning of the new season. Therefore, the RN Loewen management made sure that he has an adequate replacement, and they have signed Runar Karason from recently-relegated TV Grosswallstadt. The 25-year old Icelandic have signed a one-year contract, and before joining Grosswallstadt in 2012 played for Bergischer and Fuechse Berlin, moving to the Bundesliga from Icelandic club Reykjavik.
