SEHA Saturday: Metalurg in Veszprem – Zagreb to Meshkov

Hungary will, after last week’s match in which Veszprem has hosted Vardar, tomorrow host another derby, a direct clash between two teams aiming for SEHA GSS League’s F4 tournament, Veszprem – Metalurg. Teams have already met this season, in a friendly preparation match in Skopje. Metalurg was then better with 25:23.

Veszprem’s main advantage in the match will be their experience in playing such hard matches, especially after a clear win over Vardar from the last round. They will face current Macedonian champions with five wins from their first five matches in the League. Metalurg is on the other side coming to Hungary with two wins and a one loss from a match against their city rival Vardar. Interesting is that this match will, for both teams, be the last test ahead of upcoming EHF CL’s challenges.

In the team certainly will not be left hander Renato Vugrinec who is injured. Derby in Veszprem will miss also Darko Stanic, Vanco Dimovski, Aco Jonoski, Naumce Mojsovski and Nikola Markovski. But in the team is returns Vuko Borozan. .

 Lino Červar, Metalurg’s coach:

– Veszprem has a great team and huge tradition. I believe we will have a really hard task tomorrow. They’ve improved much in the last few years and they are at the moment, in my opinion, one of the best teams in Europe. Their defense is really outstanding, I’ve watched them but despite of that I believe we can still play good against them. One of their main characteristics, by great defense, is long bench and that’s why it seems they never stop and run the court from the first minute until the end. I will once again give chance to younger players, between 18 and 25 years in which I have full trust. I repeat once again, I am sure we can tomorrow play good handball

Darko Đukić, Metalurg’s player:

– We are aware it will be a tough match for us tomorrow but I, just like coach Červar, believe our young team is able to compete with Veszprem.

Antonio Carlos Ortega, MKB-MVM Veszprem’s coach:

– We respect Metalurg, they have a lot of young quality players. We have pressure on our back because we want to continue with our winning streak and good performances in front of our fans tomorrow. Key for the match ahead of us is good defense and easy counter attack goals. I expect a hard game but I also believe that if we play like we did in previous rounds, we will reach three new points.

Chema Rodriguez, MKB-MVM Veszprem’s midde back:

– Tough match is ahead of us, we are aware that our opponents will be motivated to beat as no one has by now managed to. I am sure we will play best we can from the first until the last minute and we’ll see what it brings us.
