SIMULATION OF EHF CL TOP 16 DRAW: The most interesting way to “Lanxess Arena”

Day before the Draw for the VELUX EHF Champions League TOP 16, Handball-Planet.com made the simulation of the „most interesting“ draw from the media point of view. Let’s start…

MVM MKB Veszprem – RK Vardar

Two fantastic home support and two ambitious teams. These teams have played a friendly match 20 days ago in Skopje, when Vardar won, but there is no doubt that Hungarians would be a favorite in two clashes. Veszprem dream about F4 after all these years, but from the other side, ambitious Vardar don’t want to stop at TOP 16.

HSV Hamburg – Motor Zaporozhye

Motor is „tough“ team who isn’t a perfect choice for German teams. Rhein Neckar Lowen have lost the first place in the Group after draw against Ukrainians at home court. HSV will have a title of „favorite“ but still Motor will fight for the glory…

THW Kiel – Aalborg

„Zebras“ are the favorites against Danish squad, but Danes would come to the matches without pressure and that couid be their biggest strength. Nikolaj Jakobsen will play against his team from proffesional career and prepare himself for the new job in Rhein Neckar Lowen. He could maybe to offer some new tactical solution to surprise Germans…

FC Barcelona– Orlen Wisla Plock

Barcelona in Plock would be a real handball celebration for the Polish vice-champion, who won’t have too much chances for TOP 8, no matter who is the rival from the Pot 1. Manolo Cadenas knows most of the Barca’s players very well and that could make quality advantage between two teams a little bit smaller.

PSG Handball – Vive Targi Kielce

Huh, a real clash! PSG will have to improve level of performance rapidly if France wants to have the first team ever at F4! Philippe Gardent has to raise his team, as Talant Dujshebaev did with Kielce. On the paper and wallet, PSG are the favorite, but at the court, Kielce showed more this season…

SG Flensburg – Celje Pivovarna Laško

Celje Pivovarna Lasko won EHF CL exactly 10 years ago by beating Flensburg in the Final! That symbolic could force Slovenian young squad to give more than 100% to make a strong resistance to Ljubomir Vranjes team, who is in difficult situation after series of injuries. We would like to see this clash – 10 years since Final 2004…

Rhein Neckar Lowen – RK Metalurg

Lino Cervar showed once again that he knows to play the game of „David and Golliath“. Metalurg beat Barca and PSG in „Boris Trajkovski“ this season. Rhein Neckar Lowen could be the next one, Macedonians are capable to do that in front of home fans. At the other side, Rhein Neckar Lowen know how to play at away matches, but it’s not to strong in Mannheim. This could be a really interesting clash…

KIF Kolding – RK Gorenje

Gorenje beat Aalborg in Denmark with five goals and qualified for TOP 16. Slovenian team is now full of self-confidence. Another Danish challenge would be interesting task for team coached by Ivan Vajdl. KIF Kolding would get favorite role in this case, but still Hvidt and Co. have to be carefull…

if metalurg play vs rn lowen
i think 70 % metalurg will move in top 8
cause they proved that they cant be beat in skopje

PSG has strong players, but the “team play” is such a mess. I think Kielce would win that game 😀
